The Background

Following the sale of the Consumer Media and Radio business, emap’s remaining organisation (consisting of Business to Business B2B media and services business) identified the need to review its IT operating model in order to support the new organisation and enable the new growth strategy.

CVL was asked to create options for the new business based on an IT operating model that would support growth through digital enablement and business acquisition.

"CVL engaged with the IT management team to quickly create a vision of our new organisation. They showed flexibility in what was a changing environment, to build on the vision to create strategic technology options that meet our future needs."

The CVL Solution

CVL worked closely with the senior IT management team to create a vision of IT within the organisation.

The vision was then developed into strategic technology options focussed on transforming the IT department from an IT service delivery function into a technology enablement function.

These strategic options included suggestions for the new organisational structure and proposals for the approach to service delivery, infrastructure, disaster recovery, platforms architecture and application rationalisation.

Key change opportunities were identified, including the establishment of processes to enable business led investment to support digital enablement. Outputs also included options such as an outline process for optimising acquisition work from pre deal assessment, through to post deal integration.

Layered over this was an 18 month transformation road map and future budget assessment.

The Benefits

CVL was able to create strategic technology options that supported the reduction in the overall size of the business, enabling the move to digital and supporting future growth through acquisition.
