The Background

BBC Worldwide's Digital Content Services (DCS) solution has been developed to migrate the corporation's huge catalogue of films, programmes and short clips into a completely digitised format. The rationale was to enable the developing digital businesses to access and publish content easily and cost effectively.

Phase 2 of the process focused on delivering enhancements to the DCS solution, in order to drive real value across the company. CVL became involved at this stage to validate the plan for ingestion of content and to define the next level of functionality available.

"CVL provided excellent insights into the implications of moving BBCW divisions onto a digital content platform. The output was concise and well structured, building the business case around cost savings, and highlighting next steps to overcome potential stumbling blocks. CVL's approach and attitude strongly complimented the culture of BBCW, resulting in much greater openness from the various senior stakeholders involved. I'd be very happy to recommend CVL in the future."

The CVL Solution

CVL confirmed and quantified the cost reductions that could be expected as a result of the DCS solution, and identified the structural and process changes required to realise these cost savings.

CVL also identified further business opportunities made available to BBCW through the new digital format.

The Benefits

As a result of CVL's work, BBCW was able to proceed with phase 2 with a full understanding of required organisational changes and projected cost savings.

CVL provided the corporation with a high-level roadmap for required functionality beyond phase 2, and added value by identifying further revenue opportunities.
