The Background

SIA UK Ltd is a wholesaler of high quality home furnishings and accessories to the UK high street and overseas distributors. SIA turned to CVL to run a vendor selection process to identify a third party logistics (3PL) provider to manage all inbound and outbound distribution activities. The process enabled the incumbent supplier to re-tender for the business, whilst identifying other vendors and operational models in the 3PL space.

The CVL Solution

CVL implemented an anonymous request for information (RFI) process to identify a shortlist of candidate suppliers, which provided SIA with qualitative, quantitative and commercial responses. CVL undertook a vendor assessment, based on responses, presentations and site visits.

The Benefits

SIA, with the help of CVL, selected a new 3PL, which was more responsive to the requirements of the SIA operation and aligned to SIA Group strategy. The process enabled vendor selection to be based on both qualitative and quantitative factors. The extensive phase of requirements analysis provided candidate suppliers with an accurate view of the operation, preventing costly misunderstandings at a later date.
