The Background

Channel 4 New Media wanted to improve the process of creating and displaying video clips for display on its website.

It set up the Clips Project to define the business propositions around video clips and to establish the best technical and operational solution to deliver a streamlined solution.

Clips were being managed and produced in an ad hoc manner by different editorial teams across New Media. The goal of the clips project was to unify both the proposition and the operational processes.

"CVL helped to ensure that we fully understand what we need to do to put in place the right systems, people and processes to manage video clip propositions across our own and syndicated platforms. They provided us with a solid framework to judge future developments on their operational impact."
Louise Brown, Head of Operations, New Media,
Channel 4

The CVL Solution

CVL undertook an independent review ("health check") of the proposed solution. The focus of the work was to review the processes and systems that had been defined in order to establish their fitness for purpose. CVL identified and evaluated potential risks, constraints and gaps in the proposed solutions.

The Benefits

CVL provided both operational and technology advice and expertise to the teams engaged in defining the solutions. CVL also provided Channel 4 with a framework for judging future clip developments in terms of both the proposition and the platform.

Channel 4's new clips destination site has successfully gone live at www.channel4.com/tvclips
