The Background

Channel 4 launched a Video on Demand (VOD) service to both TV and PC platforms in Q4 of 2006. As part of the project C4 acknowledged the requirements for change across a wide variety of business areas. In order to undertake this work, C4 required an assessment of the magnitude of change in each affected area.

The CVL Solution

C4 turned to CVL to provide an assessment of the change required in each area. CVL then defined a universe map, showing the overall requirements for C4 to implement and manage the VOD service. Within the universe map, CVL highlighted what was needed in terms of people, processes and systems and showed C4 how to successfully implement these suggested changes.

The Benefits

CVL’s solution was instrumental to the successful roll-out of 4oD. CVL’s solution created a common language for understanding the overall VOD universe, and provided a structured approach to the changes needed. The organisational structure element of the map helped to define both ownership and resources and meant that the project ran smoothly.
